Waikiki

I've visited Waikiki over the last couple of days (yeah, I know. Tourist Trap, but it's fun), and I must say, there is just so much to see and do in that city alone.

I went twice on my own since my aunt has work and school. I was glad that on Friday, she had a rare day off to show me around so I could fully comprehend what I had been looking at. First we hit a tiny beach towards Diamond Head, near the community college. It's just off the hotels are in the distance, but there's less people to get in the way of photographs. Lots of fishermen go here. I wish I could remember the name of the beach. I'll have to ask Auntie again and let you all know.

We spent most of the day taking photographs. (Auntie, a photographer, gave me some tips)

Earlier in the day we had drinks at Duke's. Duke's is named after Duke Kahanamoku, The "Father of Hawaii" and a world class international surfer. I may not know much about Duke, but I'll tell you two things about the restaurant: 1) The drinks are good.

2) So are their desserts.

After taking this photo, Auntie wanted me to text my brothers saying "I hate to tell you this, but our lives are better than yours." But I didn't. I mean, come on. That's just mean.
Okay I did. Ya got me.

  1. Auntie is just straight up hard core. "our lives are better than yours" Just telling it like it is right?

The photos look beautiful! There's no shame in being a tourist. I've felt embarrassed before with my camera always hanging around my neck when visiting touristy places, but then I realized....who cares! It is such a simple and freeing truth.

  2. Visiting from SITS, I love your story! Branching out and seeing new places, especially on your own, is an incredible, life changing experience!
